SFO’s Dramatic New Outdoor Observation Deck Opens

SFO has been building a spacious new outdoor terrace at the end of Boarding Area G in the International Terminal offering comfortable seating and great views of the airfield and beyond.

According to SF Gate, the new observation deck opens Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 7:30am to 11:30pm. The lounge will be after security so only ticketed passengers using Terminal 3 (United) and International G-side will have access to the deck.

Here’s what to expect

• 2,997 Square Foot Observation Deck
• 180+ degree views of ramp and runways
• Huge panes of “Bird Proof” glass
• Chaise Lounges with charging outlets nearby
• Three bronze sculptures
• Close to where SFO’s biggest planes land including Lufthansa’s huge A380 from Munich from 7:30pm to 9:30pm during the winter

What’s Next?

Terminal 2 Gets a Cool New Observation Deck 

SFO’s skyline continues to evolve, offering new opportunities to connect passengers with the excitement of the airfield. The floors above Terminal 2 were recently renovated to improve seismic safety, offering us the opportunity to build an outdoor observation deck that connects passengers directly with the excitement of the airfield.

In addition to the observation deck, SFO is building a new airline lounge, office space and an additional gate at Terminal 2.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
