Event Details

You’ve seen the seagull signs, but have you driven the route? Or walked it? Do you know Daly City’s connection to SF’s famous 49 Mile Scenic Drive?

Come meet the authors of SF’s hot new guidebook and find out. This lively presentation is filled with visuals, trivia, fun facts and more.

San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive was designed to show off the best of the City to visitors attending the 1939–40 Golden Gate International Expo. 75 years later, Kristine Poggioli and Carolyn Eidson walked the entire route. They did it by dividing the route into 17 bite-sized walks.

The walking adventure launched them into a new healthy lifestyle and resulted in a combined 75-pound weight loss. Plus, they had a blast and discovered many new things about San Francisco (and a few tidbits about Daly City). They knew they had to share the fun so they researched the history along each mile of the Drive and turned their adventure into a turn-by-turn guidebook, cleverly titled: Walking San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive.

This lively program is filled with the quirky, unknown history the authors uncovered along the route. Books will be available for sale and signing.
