Bring the kids and their bikes for a free morning of safety skills, helmet checks, and a short neighborhood ride at the San Francisco Bike Rodeo. Youth ages 5–17 will learn how to ride safely on city streets, practice hand signals, and get their bikes inspected by trained volunteers. Families can also join an optional ride around Lake Merced.
This is a beginner-friendly event designed to help kids build confidence riding in a group.
When: Saturday, May 9, 2026
Session Times: 8:30am, 9:00am, 9:30am, 10:00am, or 10:30am (each session lasts about 90 minutes)
Where: Back parking lot at Stonestown (near the Sunday farmers market area)
Cost: Free
Ages: 5–17
Bring: Bike, helmet, water, snack, and sunscreen
Registration is required, and space is limited to 60 youth per session.
What Kids Do
- Learn bike safety skills (traffic navigation, hand signals, safe riding)
- Get bike and helmet safety inspections
- Take a short supervised group ride
- Optional longer family ride around Lake Merced
