SF’s Brand New 1.5 Acre “Outpost” Picnic Meadow Opening at Presdio Tunnel Tops

Starting Thursday, July 17, the Presidio is opening Outpost Meadow, a new 1.5-acre picnic area at Presidio Tunnel Tops. Designed as an extension of the Outpost nature playground and Field Station, this space was created in response to families’ requests for more room to gather, rest, and enjoy meals outdoors.

Outpost Meadow includes wheelchair-accessible picnic tables, BBQ grills, stroller and bike parking, water fountains, and a large open lawn. It’s conveniently located next to the Presidio Pop Up food trucks, making it easy to grab food on site. Visitors can also enjoy unobstructed views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the meadow.

Picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis through October. A reservation system for some tables will be rolled out in fall 2025.

Please note, we don’t know the exact time the brand new picnic area opens.
