Over Labor Day weekend, we unveiled the latest addition to the Museum at the Cliff, Naiad Cove exhibit, the Cliff Moving Picture Gallery Annex at Kelly’s Cove!
NOW PLAYING, Cliff Moving Picture Gallery
Sundown to 10:30pm thru September 25th.
And if you can believe it, these works are a companions to my ongoing 10 month old, video projection that animates three northerly-facing windows of the former Cliff House Gift Shop with diverse scenes of the Cliff House and connected sites that has been showing nightly from sundown to 10:30pm since December 2021!
The projection is viewable from the northern facing windows of the old gift ship, (facing towards the Golden Gate!) It can be accessed from Point Lobos Ave, via a walk bridge and is ADA accessible.
This new video installation illuminates and animates south facing windows of the former Cliff House Restaurant, overlooking the lower terrace and Ocean Beach. Using a variety of photographic media, the piece showcases the bohemian surf culture of Kelly’s Cove and the vibrant legacy of Playland at the Beach, which once graced Great Highway until its demolition 50 years ago.
We are showing submissions from the local community, which includes a wealth of photos of Kelly’s Cove and Playland from legendary local photo-chronicler Dennis O’Rorke. Also, we will get to feast our eyes on never-before-shown super 8 film from 50+ years ago shot by Terry Weinberg and his dad Murray Weinberg.
NOW PLAYING, Naiad Cove Sideshow
Open Saturday-Sunday 11am – 5pm thru September 25th.
Over Labor Day weekend, we also unveiled the latest addition to the Museum at the Cliff, the Naiad Cove Sideshow.
Just like it’s sister show, the illuminated Sideshow takes you on a 74 minute colour-full journey through the time with photos and motion pictures of Cliff House, Sutro’s, Playland and Ocean Beach from the 1880s to the present day.
Light/Color by Rick Bellamy!
This is part of the Naiad Cove Exhibit, in the former Cliff House Restaurant and is open to the public for free on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays),11:00am to 5:00pm, until September 25, 2022.
