SF’s Free DFT Monthly Block Party: “Downtown First Thursdays” (2026)

Downtown First Thursdays is back in 2026 for a full year of street parties in 2026, starting Jan 1, 2026, with a New Year’s Day Edition and returning every first Thursday with a new downtown block party.

DJs – Live Performances – Dancing – Drag – Food Trucks – Shopping – Fashion, and new surprises every month.

CARNAVAL SF TAKES OVER DFT:
Carnaval San Francisco takes over 2nd Street. This is DFT, Carnaval SF style: joyful, proudly Latino and taking over the streets of Downtown SF.

Featuring Sonido La Conga, bringing Mexico City sonidero culture to the heart of Downtown SF. Préndelo con cumbia, salsa classics, guaracha y más sonidos auténticos, with rhythms connecting México, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and beyond. Expect Willie Colón, Sonora Matancera, tropical classics, deep cuts and a parade of favorites lighting up the dance floor.

With support from Internacional Panchito, Sonido Reina (La Chica del Sabor) and Sonido La Tapatía with Sylvia Caro.

From live music and dancing to free museums and after parties, everything you need to plan your night right is here.

Main Highlights

• Special Guest Performances & Live Music

• Big featured performance by Austin Millz on the Howard Stage from about 7:30–9:00 PM.

• Supporting music acts earlier in the evening from artists like LEXAPEEL, Miles Cobb, and others on the main stage.

• Multiple Music & Dance Spots

• DJ Battle between Gen Z and Millennial DJs at Natoma and 2nd Street (~6:30–8:00 PM), with opening and closing sets and dance party moments.

• Discoteca on Jessie Street with a mix of disco, reggaeton, house, and more.

• Street dancing and drag performances throughout the route.

• Streetwide Activities Across Blocks

• Curbside Karaoke — take the mic and sing on Minna Street!

• Art & Dance Inside 111 Minna Gallery — live music and gallery programming.

• Outdoor bars and happy hour specials early in the evening on 2nd Street.

• Food, Shopping & Local Vendors

• A big lineup of food trucks, local eateries, and retail vendors along the street selling eats, drinks, and goods — everything from burgers and sweets to tea, patties, and clothing.

• Neighborhood Integrations

• The party spreads across three blocks (2nd Street between Market and Howard) with lots to explore.

• Some nearby museums and galleries also have extended or free hours during the event.
