SF’s Free “North Beach Comedy Festival” Weekend (Sept. 15-17)

HellaFunny and Funcheap are finally taking over North Beach! Join us for three full nights of comedy (with an epic Saturday night after party) for our first full weekend of comedy at Broadway Studios right in the heart of North Beach.

And it all takes place at the historic BROADWAY STUDIOS, built in 1919 in North Beach. Not to brag, but Dave Chappelle, Patton Oswalt, and Harland Williams all shot their comedy specials here. And a little secret…HBO left ALL of their lighting equipment at the venue. So these comedy shows are literally “LIT AS F*CK!”

Each week is a new handpicked lineup of top local comics (along with some visiting special guests) who regularly perform at clubs like Cobbs, Punch Line, shows like Crazy Funny Asians, HellaFunny Live at Thrive City or have performed at festivals like SF Sketchfest, Clusterfest or Outside Lands.

GETTING THERE

Broadway Studios is located at 435 Broadway in North Beach in between Montgomery and Kearny. Parking: There is a parking lot right door to the venue, plus multiple lots on Broadway between Columbus and Sansome (rates vary). Street parking is available, if you’re very lucky. MUNI: The 8, 12, 30 and 45 all stop within a few blocks. Uber/Lyft/Taxis are all plentiful in North Beach.

ABOUT BROADWAY STUDIOS

Located in the heart of North Beach, the classic Mission-style building was built in 1919 by the Italian community and began its first incarnation as Garibaldi Hall. In the 1930s it was a favorite ballroom for swing and jazz nights, which saw the likes of Louis Armstrong grace its stage. In the 70’s the venue was host to many memorable events including appearances from Robin Williams, Blondie and other now legendary rock bands. In the 80’s it was the epicenter of the San Francisco punk scene with acts like The Dead Kennedys, Iggy Pop, The Nuns, and Metallica playing to packed houses.
