CELEBRATING LATINX ESSENTIAL WORKERS & LABOR

Various venues on 24th Street/Calle 24 Latino Cultural District

and Mission Food Hub 701 Alabama St (at 19th).

This June 18th Paseo Artistico highlights Latino Essential Workers of the Mission with “Somos Esenciales” featuring a special performance about domestic workers and day laborers from the Mission Food Hub experiences with the COVID pandemic written and directed by Paul S. Flores, as well as Vanessa Sanchez and John Leaños dance film “Ghostly Labor,” Youth Speaks poets, Francisco Herrera and band, and a special recognition of the Health Promotoras of Calle 24 Latino Cultural District.

 

nues and feature Teen poets from Youth Speaks at Precita Eyes, dancer Vanessa Sanchez’s and John Leaños’ project “Ghostly Labor” in homage to farmworkers at Brava Theater, as well as Calle 24 Health Promotores in collaboration with local musicians, and a history walk of the Mission’s Food History led by Shaping San Franisco. The event will shift to the Mission Food Hub on 19th and Alabama at 4pm for Somos Esenciales performance and discussion.

Somos Esenciales is supported by The Creative Work Fund, Southwest Folklife Alliance and the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures Thanks to Roberto Y. Hernández, the Mission Food Hub and the Latino Task Force SF. Special thanks to Solutions Journalism Network for support of Paseo Artistico.

Paseo Artistico is co-presented by 24th Street cultural venues including Mission Cultural Center, Brava Theater, Dance Mission, Precita Eyes Muralists, Community Music Center, Medicine For Nightmares Bookstore, Adobe Books, Calle 24 Latino Cultural District.
