The Inaugural Lyrical Advent service is a vibrant celebration of the coming of Jesus, infused with artistic expressions to refresh the soul. This service is designed for all, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

The experience will be warm and reflective, emphasizing the significance of the Christmas story. Attendees are encouraged to participate actively through responsive readings, fostering a sense of community and shared celebration.

ABOUT ADVENT

Advent is derived from the Latin word adventus which means “coming. This season is marked with the anticipation of the birth of Jesus Christ. Many people celebrate Advent with the lighting of special candles. There are 4 candles of Advent representing in order hope, peace, joy, and love. Every Sunday a different candle is lit until finally Christmas, the Christ candle can be lit because of the birth of Jesus Christ.

ABOUT LYRICAL ASSEMBLY

Lyrical Assembly is a nomadic faith, arts, and activism community, that assembles to spread messages of hope that inspire and empower communities toward social change. The purpose of Lyrical Assembly is to decolonize and reimagine new ways of faith and community outside of heteropatriarchy and white supremacy.

ABOUT SPEAKER

Ashley Budelli is a Howard University graduate with a Master’s degree in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Seminary. She is a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and equity. Her deep faith informs her work as both an author and a Womanist Theologian. Ashley’s writing reflects her unwavering dedication to these principles as she champions collective efforts to create a better world.
