Memorial Day pays tribute to the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the United States military. Freedom is never free, and this occasion is meant to recognize, honor, and remember their service and sacrifice with gratitude. There are several ways to honor Memorial Day in the Presidio.
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs will host the 159th annual Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony at the San Francisco National Cemetery in the Presidio from 10:30 to 12 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Admission is free and all are welcome. It’s the largest Memorial Day commemoration in the Bay Area, drawing thousands of attendees. The formal program includes speakers, a rifle volley, and musical performances. Note: Parking is not provided inside the cemetery gates; ample parking is available nearby on the Main Post.
After the ceremony, the Interfaith Center will host a meditative organ concert next to the cemetery at the Presidio Chapel starting at 12:15 p.m.
Additionally, the Presidio Officers’ Club’s free history exhibitions will be open, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
