SF’s “Women’s Equality Day” Voter Registration Celebration | City Hall

This Thursday, fierce women leaders Mayor London Breed, BOS President Malia Cohen, Women’s Commission President Debbie Mesloh, and a very special guest from Washington, DC will be featured speakers at a Women’s Equality Day event, beginning at 5 pm on Thursday, 8/23 to commemorate when women won the right to vote.

• 5:30 pm Reception at SF Main Library – Koret Auditorium
• 6:00 pm Panel Discussion with City Hall Experts at Koret Auditorium

The press conference will be followed by a panel discussion at 6 pm at the Main Library (Koret Auditorium) to share how to get appointed to city boards and commissions. The panel will feature Supervisor Ahsha Safai, Chair of the Rules Committee, Mayor’s Liaison to Boards and Commissions Mawuli Tugbenyoh, Commissioner Sonia Melara, and will be moderated by President Mesloh. The event co-sponsors are Assessor Carmen Chu, the League of Women Voters – San Francisco, and our Department.

Did you know that California is ranked the third worst state when it comes to women voter registration? Join SF Assessor Carmen Chu, the SF Department on the Status of Women, and the League of Women Voters of San Francisco to launch the “W Challenge” to dramatically increase voter participation, followed by a panel discussion on how to get appointed to city boards and commissions.
