A bewitching all-female production
staged in San Francisco’s historic fortress beneath the Golden Gate Bridge
We are thrilled to present a remount of our critically acclaimed crowd favorite, Macbeth at Fort Point. Featuring a fierce all-female cast, we conjure this timeless tale within the brick cauldron of the historic fortress. Together, in the swirl of fog and wind, we dive into the potent themes and the rich language of Shakespeare’s text, developing further nuance in our connection between this play and our current moment, along with an ever-deepening relationship with the very stones of the fortress.
Audiences travel via multiple performance trajectories that wind through the dark stone corridors, narrow passageways, expansive brick casemates, and inner chambers of Fort Point. The Golden Gate Bridge soars overhead, the city skyline flickers – a full sensory immersion into Macbeth’s Scotland as it collides with Civil War era and modern day San Francisco.
Presented in collaboration with the National Park Service / Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
