Bay Area Sikh community is commemorating the martyrdom of Guru Arjan and Indian government attack on Sikh religion’s holiest shrine Golden Temple in Amritsar by holding a parade in San Francisco every year.

This is an important event for the community with significant historical implications.

This event will shine light on the recurring theme of human rights of minorities in India. More than 10,000 Sikhs from the Bay Area, Sacramento and Central Valley are expected to attend.

The parade will highlight the fact that even after 35 years the religious and economic demands of Sikh community remain unaddressed. Minorities continue to be persecuted and there has been no justice for the victims of Sikh genocide that occurred in Delhi and other cities after the death of Indira Gandhi.
