Join the introvert happy hour in Oakland. Bring a book, bring a friend, and join us for an evening of reading. At Silent Book Club, there’s no assigned reading. All readers (print and electronic) are welcome.
Introvert happy hour Kicks-off at 7 pm with some light chatter and informal book recommendations before settling in to read quietly, but if you’d rather just pull up a chair and read, by all means, do so. No one will be shushed or shamed. The bar will be open for happy hour. Seats for up to 30 people have been reserved in the Oscar Wilde room. This is the room that you first walk into when you enter the bar that has a painting of Oscar Wilde. The book club is scheduled to meet the first Tuesday evening of each month 7 pm-9 pm.
Attendees are now invited to bring a maximum of two books they’re ready to let go. Participants can take a new book home with them, or not! At the end of the evening, all leftovers are taken to a local public library to be donated.
Schedule at Slainte Pub (131 Broadway, Oakland):
7:00pm – 7:30pm – People arrive, order drinks/food, share what they’re reading
7:30pm – 8:30pm – Quiet reading hour
8:30pm – 9:00pm – Optional socializing, or just keep reading
PLEASE NOTE: There is no reserved seating, this free event is first-come, first-served. An RSVP does not guarantee you a spot but we will do our best to accommodate as many readers as possible. This policy is in place because not everyone who RSVPs attends. If you are interested in co-hosting Silent Book Club Oakland, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like more info.
