Event Details

Join us February 17th as ABD presents Skywatchers Open Mic Night at the Tenderloin Museum. In addition to the Skywatcher ensemble of singers, dancers, musicians, spoken word artists, and ABD dancers, they’ll be featuring NAKA Dance Theater with guest artists Debby Kajiyama and José Navarrete. All are welcome to bring your voice, words, music, dance, and other offerings. Or, just come witness the sharing and be part of a growing community-based action in the Tenderloin.

More on Skywatchers:
Anne Bluethenthal and Dancers initiated the Skywatchers project five years ago in collaboration with Community Housing Project (CHP) and the Luggage Store. Skywatchers illuminates the lives and stories of residents of the Tenderloin who are too often reduced to statistics. Fundamentally, the project is about the connectivity that is essential to the creative process, and the vital importance and humanizing impact of making visible the stories that make us who we are. Skywatchers engage residents as storytellers, co-creators, performers, and audience members— working in close collaboration with ABD dancers and associated artists—in the creation of performance pieces that reflect the richness and complexity of their stories.
