Are you the type that lives to learn about your surroundings? Ever wondered what the walls of historic buildings would say if they had the ability to speak? If so, you’ll definitely want to join us in the Tenderloin this Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 as Yelp partners up with the Uptown Tenderloin Historic District for a walking tour uncovering the extremely fascinating history of one of San Francisco’s most notorious neighborhoods.
Randy Shaw of the Uptown Tenderloin Historic District will take us on a stroll through the neighborhood and teach us what life was like at a time when your grand pappy was just knee high to a dwarf rabbit. Among other attractions, Randy will highlight the building where film director Frank Capra once lived, where Grateful Dead founder Jerry Garcia resided and where renowned boxer Muhammad Ali trained at Newman’s Gym in the Uptown TL.
After the tour, we’ll stop into Amsterdam Cafe (who happen to be participating in Yelp Drinks!) for a post-walk beer along with a few bites (it’s up to you to pay for your own beers/food).
