Chan Marshall has been making music under the name “Cat Power” for 25 years. She’s a maverick singer-songwriter who documents pain and joy, struggle and recovery, with a quietly searing intensity.

Cat Power is a one of a kind artist to emerge from the 1990’s indie rock scene, unafraid to reveal her inner self in her music and follow her muse in a variety of different directions. The singer’s comeback after six years is a slow, quiet listen, with little in the way of obvious drama or dynamics, but it is a wonderful album.
