Event Details

Attend a special presentation by Assemblymember Matt Haney, actress Shannon Lee from the Bruce Lee Foundation, Mark Young from Stand with Asians and Justin Hoover from the Chinese Historical Society, where they discuss the new California Bill that honors Chinese American icon, Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee was a global icon and trailblazer who transformed representation in film and beyond. At a time when Asian Americans still face discrimination and remain underrecognized despite their impact, this bill affirms the importance of cultural representation and inclusion.

During his lifetime, Bruce Lee broke barriers in an industry where Asian Americans were often sidelined, most notably through his groundbreaking role in Enter the Dragon. Beyond film, he championed inclusion by opening martial arts schools to students of all backgrounds.

Presented by San Francisco Public Library
