Sports Basement Grand Opening – Almaden Plaza

Bay Area sporting goods retailer Sports Basement will kick off a weeklong celebration of its newest store opening in San Jose at Almaden Plaza next to CostCo, on Saturday, September 6, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with vendor giveaways throughout the day, demos, food, and beer from local breweries as a part of Beer for Good from Lazy Dog, with all donation proceeds benefiting the Silicon Valley Pet Project.

The new store is a massive 80K-square-foot space filled with Sports Basement’s weird and wonderful mix of high-quality and affordable outdoor gear and apparel, bike, ski, and camp rental equipment. Vendors on site for Saturday’s celebration include Clif, Fluid Nutrition, HOKA, Hydroflask, Ibis Cycles, Maurten, New Balance, On, Patagonia, Saucony, Shimano Brands, Smartwool, Tifosi, Topo, Ugg, Wahoo, and Western Mountaineering. Prior to the store’s Saturday festivities, runners will kick off the day at 9 a.m. with a sold-out 5K Fun Run sponsored by Saucony, ON, New Balance, and Topo Athletic.

During Saturday’s store festivities, customers can join Basementeers, Sports Basement’s loyalty program, for free, while the Grand Opening celebration continues all week at the new store, with big discounts. Through September 12, Basementeers will save 20% off purchases (some exclusions apply; see https://shop.sportsbasement.com/pages/sale-exclusions), and Non-Basementeers will receive 11% off of purchases all week. In addition to the regular 10% discount for Basementeers, 10% of the profits from Basementeer purchases are donated to a local charity or school chosen by the member.
