The acclaimed Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble, directed by Murray Low, presents their final performance of the academic year! As usual, the group have a complete new set of music prepared covering all aspects of the idiom – traditional son montuno, classic and modern salsa, boleros, samba, Brazilian funk, rumba jazz and much more! Works include those written or performed by icons such as Rubén Blades, Ray Baretto, Buika, Djavan, and Gilberto Gil, as well as local artists such as John Calloway and John Santos. There is something for everyone. The music is guaranteed to perk up your ears – and dancing in the aisles is encouraged!
The event takes place at Stanford’s Dinkelspiel Auditorium on the Stanford campus on Saturday, May 30 at 7:30 PM. Advance tickets are available online for $32 general/$27 students and seniors. In addition, the concert is free to Stanford students with valid SUID. Reserve your space early! For tickets, visit our website at http://latinjazz.stanford.edu and follow the “Buy Tickets” button.
