Event Details

Join for the U.S. premiere of “State of Control,” a documentary film bringing you to the front lines of the cyber-war between China, Tibet and the world.

  • 5:30-7 pm: Reception and Meet and Greet with Special Guests & Directors
  • 7-9 pm: Film Premiere and Expert Panel with Q&A

Panel, moderated by Seth Rosenblatt, former CNET cyber-security correspondent and current editor of security and privacy news site The Parallax, includes CrowdStrike’s co-founder Dmitri Alperovitch, an expert on cyber-security, and Human Rights Activists for Tibet.

Tickets are $10 and include drinks and appetizers. Proceeds donated to a local Tibetan family in need and Nepali earthquake relief.

Two American filmmakers go undercover in Tibet during a full scale media blackout. Entering the hot-bed areas in closed off regions of Tibet, they try to help get information out of the region. As they document heartrending stories of the Tibetan struggle for human rights, a dangerous game unfolds as secret police maintain 24 hour surveillance. Unable to document their intended subjects, the filmmakers themselves become the target. Every move is followed, leading to hotel break-ins, equipment theft, and cyber-assault – ultimately putting the filmmakers’ lives in danger. Forced to flee, they work with leading cyber experts to uncover that their entire production team were victims of a pervasive cyber-assault; an assault that plays out globally with far-reaching national security implications.
