Event Details

Outside Lands at the Main mini-festival begins with Sunset historian Lorri Ungaretti introducing her new book, Stories in the Sand: San Francisco’s Sunset District, 1847–1964.

In a cross between a book reading and a visual presentation, Ungaretti will describe how the city’s Sunset District grew from what was considered uninhabitable sand dunes to a thriving neighborhood. Pictures, stories, and quotations from people who contributed to the area’s growth will make the history of the Sunset come alive. Stories in the Sand: San Francisco’s Sunset District, 1847–1964, will be available for sale and autographing.

Outside Lands at the Main continues with the documentary film Sutro: The Palace at Land’s End in the Koret at 2:00 pm.
