Watch people tell heartwarming and funny true stories about pets at StorySlam Oakland’s online storytelling event, “Cats & Dogs.” Featuring multiple-award-winning storyteller, Matthew Dicks, plus talented, curated storytellers. Open-mic stories at the end.
Got a great story about a cat or a dog? You can put your name in our virtual “hat” for a chance to tell it. Open-mic stories must be true, about you (or your pet) and 5 minutes or less.

Our featured storyteller this month is Matthew Dicks.
Matthew is a 49-time Moth StorySLAM champion and 6-time GrandSLAM champion whose stories have been featured on the nationally syndicated Moth Radio Hour and weekly podcast. He also teaches workshops on true storytelling and has authored many books including one of the most influential books on the subject, Storyworthy.
Some stories may be funny. Others may be raw and vulnerable. All will be true, first-person accounts of real experiences from ordinary people.
Our curated lineup features award-winning storytellers and other great performers.
​After the featured performers, we’ll present open-mic stories from members of the Zoom audience.
Ticket buyers will receive a Top Secret Zoom link to join the video event on the night of the show.
