Sunday Assembly: Communty Sing & Meetup | Berkeley

Sunday Assembly is a non-religious congregation that celebrates life. They’ve got the best parts of a church – community, singing, and acts of service – without any of the religious dogma.

They typically meet on the third Sunday of the month to sing, think, listen, laugh, and build community together. They feature speakers from the local science and humanities communities, and they typically offer a way to donate to a local organization.

The Sunday Assembly is a godless congregation started in 2012 by two comedians and performers in England. It is a growing global network of people with the motto to “Live Better. Help Often. Wonder More.”

Featured speaker, longtime Sunday Assembly East Bay member, singer, and drummer Craig Good, who will lead an interactive presentation on Improvisation!

“In just a few minutes you’ll learn how to make friends with anybody, how to fail gracefully, and the power of positive feedback,” says Craig.

Teller of stories, many of which are true, Craig worked over 30 years at Pixar, starting at Lucasfilm in 1982. He did a little of everything in the old days, and in the last half of his tenure specialized in virtual camera operation. About 20 years ago he took his first improv lesson at Pixar, and it changed his life. He now teaches visual storytelling at the California College of the Arts, produces audiobooks and podcasts, edits and restores audio, does content editing, improvises lighting at BATS Improv in San Francisco, and sometimes even teaches improv
