Sunday Assembly: Communty Sing & Meetup | Berkeley

Sunday Assembly is a non-religious congregation that celebrates life. They’ve got the best parts of a church – community, singing, and acts of service – without any of the religious dogma.

They typically meet on the third Sunday of the month to sing, think, listen, laugh, and build community together. They feature speakers from the local science and humanities communities, and they typically offer a way to donate to a local organization.

The Sunday Assembly is a godless congregation started in 2012 by two comedians and performers in England. It is a growing global network of people with the motto to “Live Better. Help Often. Wonder More.”

The speaker on April 21 will be Katherine Avila from the Alameda County Food Bank. She will be talking about and hosting a Virtual Food Drive, which for every $ 1 donated, provides the food bank with $7 worth of purchasing power.

Out of every $1 donated, 94 cents goes directly to a feeding program, which is one reason why the Alameda County Food Bank has the highest possible rating on Charity Navigator. With a Virtual Food Drive, the proceeds go towards purchasing the most needed items like eggs, milk, produce and food rich in protein.
