Super Bowl 50 | NFL Takes Over SF
Super Bowl City is a, free-to-the-public fan village designed to celebrate the milestone Super Bowl 50 and serve as the hub of fan activities for Super Bowl 50 from Saturday, January 30 through Sunday, February 7, 2016.
Centered in Justin Herman Plaza, on the Embarcadero at the foot of Market Street, there are tons of games and activities like the virtual reality “Fan Dome,” a free zipline experience down a mini Golden Gate Bridge, a replica of The Puppy Bowl, live broadcasts from CBS Sports, 26 free concerts and more.

Super Bowl City Hours of Operation:
- Saturday, January 30: 11AM – 10PM – Opening at the Main Gate (Davis and Market) at 10:55am followed by a procession with marching band to the Fan Stage for a welcome ceremony at 11am.
- Sunday, January 31: 11AM – 9PM
- Monday, February 1: 11AM – 9PM
- Tuesday, February 2: 11AM – 9PM
- Wednesday, February 3: 11AM – 9PM
- Thursday, February 4: 11AM – 9PM

Super Bowl City Highlights
Most events are free, but some may have a nominal cost.
- City Stage (Sue Bierman Park) – Free, live concerts with One Republic, Chris Isaak, Alicia Keys and more.
- Animal Planet’s “Puppy Bowl Cafe“ – a live replica of the annual Puppy Bowl with adorable, adoptable animals playing a “scrimmage” on a mock football field (in the Ferry Building)
- CBS Sports – Live shows featuring experts, former players, and guests M-F 3-5 PM & 7-9 PM, Sat 8-10 PM and Sun 11-3 PM.
Fans can also zipline down our “Golden Gate Bridge,” catch a pass on a replica of the twisty Lombard Street, or sit in on some chalk talks. All events are free. - Fan Energy Zone – In the 40-foot tall Fan Dome, fans become players as they step into interactive games. Play as a digital avatar on giant screens and your movements are replicated by motion sensors that light up the Fan Dome. Designed by e2k events and filled with a series of interactive, motion capture games. Also a 50 foot wide “Fan Wall” video screen.
- Chevron STEM Zone – explore equipment advancements, wearable technology, developments in training, innovations in broadcasting, and improvements to the fan experience
- Dignity Health: Hello humankindness – Meet some of your favorite 49ers players and try on actual gear the pros use
- Intel Experience – Get the ultimate personalized keepsake with your 3D image laser-etched inside a glass cube
- The Huddle – Hang out with athletes and celebrities who visit the NFL Network, NFL.com and NFL NOW sets and are peppered with questions about the latest trending topics from Brady to Bieber.
- #IKnowTheWay to San Jose – Enter a venture capitalist quick pitch competition, a robot battle, crack the code and win prizes, and grab a beer from Chassis the beer-dispensing robot
Puppy Bowl (Feb. 4-7) | FREE
A live replica of the Puppy Bowl is set up in the Ferry Building with a 24-foot mock football field and adorable, adoptable puppies from local shelters playing in a “scrimmage” with an Animal Planet referee. February 4-7 at Gott’s Roadside. Free admission.
Free Zipline in Downtown SF (Jan. 30 – Feb. 7) | FREE
CBS Sports has set up a fun activation zone where fans can zipline down a tiny Golden Gate Bridge, catch a pass on a replica Lombard Street, or watch CBS Sports Networks’s five shows on the stage with a rotating cast of current NFL players and CBS analysts including Bill Bower, Rich Cannon and Tony Gonzalez. You can also watch in person the CBS’ Sunday pre-game show “The Super Bowl Today” will also be broadcast live from Super Bowl City and Levi’s Stadium.
Fan Energy Zone (Jan. 30 – Feb. 7) | FREE
SAP is going high tech is a “Fan Energy Zone” featuring a series of interactive motion capture games where you can pretend you’re on the gridiron – your movements captured and you’ll throw virtual passes, dodge oncoming defenders and score touchdowns, or train in the virtual Quarterback challenge. The Fan Energy Zone features a 40 foot tall fan dome and a 50 foot wide “Fan Wall” tracking the leaders of the virtual games.
Walk Like a Pedestrian
Here’s how to get to Super Bowl City when they force you to walk by foot. There are four secure entry checkpoints. Three along the Embarcadero and one at Beale and Market.
Prohibited Items into Super Bowl City – Leave these items behind: Bags larger than 18″x 18″ (it’s ok to bring laptop bags and small backpacks), drones, bikes, skateboards, alcohol, folding chairs, pets and more. Read the full list of prohibited items.
