It’s been nearly 40 years since a full moon dawned in the skies on Christmas day. Not since 1977 has a bright full moon been added as a gift for the holidays. And this rare event won’t happen again until 2034 – a long time to wait so be sure to look up in the skies on Christmas Day.
December’s full moon, the last of the year, is called “Full Cold Moon” since it occurs at the beginning of winter. The peak of the full moon occurs at 3:11am.
