SUPERFLIP is a monumental short film by Celine Parreñas Shimizu, Dean of UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television, filmed in the summer of 1995.

The 30-minute film explores the life, love and labor of a Filipino immigrant couple and was shot in iconic SOMA locations such as the original Carmen’s Restaurant, Blanche’s Garden, Rigo’s Inner City/ Home mural and 330 Ritch/Victory Hall.

Schedule:

2pm: Film screening and fireside chat with Director Celine Parreñas Shimizu who made this thesis film at the institution she now runs as Dean of the renowned UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.

3pm-5pm: Explore Makibaka: Living Legacy and Bay Area Then Exhibits

5:30pm: Happy Hour – SUPERFLIP Cast+Crew Reunion at Victory Hall – 330 Ritch Street.
