Event Details

In an effort to continue outreach to the community SF Parks & Rec will be hosting Back to Rec Night on September 29th at 33 sites across the city.

Modeled after the school district’s Back to School Night, this is an opportunity for the community to meet the staff at their local recreation center or swimming pool, sample our programs and learn how they can participate and help determine the types of programs that are needed in their neighborhood.

Back to Rec Night Highlight:
Harvey Milk Center for the Arts – Duboce Triangle

This Wednesday, September 29 from 6pm – 8pm, San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department is opening its doors citywide at all of its recreation sites for the first annual Back to Rec Night.  As part of this event, The Harvey Milk Center for the Arts, located at the top of Duboce Park, will be hosting a variety of fun and interactive activities.

This event is an opportunity for members of the community to check out the facility which boosts a ballroom, dance studio, sound recording/mixing studio, and one of the largest traditional black and white darkrooms you will ever see.

Beginning in October, Harvey Milk will be introducing upwards of 40 new Cultural Arts programs, and Back to Rec Night is a chance for people to meet some of the new and amazing instructors and to learn more about the classes they will be teaching.  There will also be DJ sets, live dancing, and participatory art.
