Event Details

This year, the Getting Played Symposium will focus the conversation on the role of online spaces in advancing equity in the local theater community. What are your thoughts? As ticket buyers, what are you noticing, including about your own engagement? As performers, how have opportunities changed over the years? As producers, do your choices evolve to meet community demands for more equitable theater? Join the conversation with panelists Michael Gene Sullivan (San Francisco Mime Troupe), Kendal Murray (BLACKstage Theater Company), Salim Razawi (Bay Area Theatre Artists of Color), and Devon LaBelle (Bay Area Theater Folks) at the Berkeley Public Library’s third floor Community Room. Moderated by Getting Played Symposium founder Kathleen Antonia Tarr. More information on the event website.

RSVP for tickets, access to livestreaming link (available 24 hours prior to the in-person event), and priority seating. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. for ticketed patrons, 1:45 p.m. for general public. Seating is first-come, first-served to capacity. FREE!

***If you require ASL for the event, please contact organizers prior to October 5, 2024.

The 2024 Getting Played Symposium is sponsored by Stanford University’s Program in Writing and Rhetoric. Many thanks to return volunteers Christopher Rozeville and Shirley Smallwood as well as Devon LaBelle and Deb Fink for their invaluable assistance.
