Bay Area Dance Week kicks off on Friday, April 27, 2018 at noon with a free public performance of One Dance, led by Rhythm & Motion, at San Francisco City Hall.

“One Dance” is a flash-mob style dance performance at the San Francisco City Hall that they can join in on the fun.

Free Stand-up Comedy Showcase | Bazaar Café

Stand-up Comedy Showcase at the Bazaar Café. Hosted by Danny Dechi – Comedian and world’s only pencil musician. SF Legendary Comedian Bob Sarlatte headlines. Bob is a nationally known commercial actor, has been on David Letterman’s Show over 20 times, and is the on-field announcer for the San Francisco 49ERS. Also on the show: Mike Capozzola, Kevin Munroe, Griffin Daley, & more.


“Musicircus”4-Hour Performance Marathon | Walt Disney Museum

Experience John Cage’s Musicircus: Over 30 performers, films, tutorials, workshops and more, all with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

First performed in 1967, John Cage’s Musicircus is simply an invitation for performers to assemble and play together – a “happening” where multiple performances occur simultaneously to create new and unusual configurations.

This family-friendly performance marathon is free to the general public and designed to be kid-friendly, with various workshops and hands-on fun during the day. We welcome young ones from 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm to create and experience art with their family.

Some events are free: Many event performance take place in the lobby of the museum and are free to the Public and no museum ticket is required.

Some are not: Please be aware, some performances will take place inside the museum which would require paying museum admission.


Free 4-Week Acting Class: Actor As Storyteller | Mission Dist.

Acting is a relevant part of our society, informing us on a daily basis about history and the dynamics that shape societies, both similar and foreign to our own…

In this free 4-week class series, sponsored by the San Francisco Free School, you will explore acting through movement, improvisation, and other techniques, to connect the mind with body towards a more organic form of expression.

This is a 4-week series, where each class builds on the one before, so a commitment to all four sessions is recommended.

Ulises and Mark are each trained in Stanislavski’s “System of Physical Actions” and have extensive experience in improvisational techniques. Both have acted on stage and in film in San Francisco and Los Angeles for over 15 years.

Christmas Songs for Kids & Families | Mission Dist.

Tito Uquillas, singer/songwriter for the award-winning children’s music band, The Hipwaders, will be performing Christmas and holiday music for the entire family. Kids can sing along with many seasonal favorites as well as songs from The Hipwaders’ 2010 NAPPA Award-winning album, “A Kindie Christmas”.

Bay-Area based, The Hipwaders have performed across the country and their music regularly heard on TV & radio.

Experience the existential mystery of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

Adapted from William Shakespeare, Tom Stoppard’s masterpiece invites audiences to engage in the chaotic and absurd world of fate experienced through the lens of two minor characters found within Hamlet. The dialogue is as funny as the bard himself.

50 Years of Arts: Free City Hall Performances | SF

A free, noontime public performance by some of San Francisco’s most innovative, fun and entertaining performing artists will mark the 50th anniversary of the City’s Grants for the Arts program of the Hotel Tax Fund, which uses tourism tax dollars to promote San Francisco for tourism.

The performance will feature Theatre Flamenco, Patrick Makuakane’s Hawaiian dance company N Lei Hulu I Ka Wkiu and a special appearance by a member of the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon.

The performance is part of the ongoing Rotunda Dance Series, jointly presented by Dancers’ Group and World Arts West. The performance will be followed by a free public reception in the North Light Court with food and beverages

Dance Film Screening & Mini-Performance | Fillmore

Local choreographer/dancer Raissa Simpson whose credits include projects for Lucas Films and recording artist Tori Quinn, reveals unseen footage from her critically-acclaimed Push Dance Company. In addition to a film release filled with pulsating movement, Push will also showcase their latest work— a men’s trio — entitled, “Configurations” set to debut at Central Market Arts Festival in Mint Plaza on September 24th.

California Indian Big Time Gathering | Yerba Buena Gardens

The San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival is pulling off tons of performances and events for its 33rd season in SF and Berkeley from June 3-July 3, 2011.

Most of these cost $18-$58 but you can attend an outdoor Indian gathering in Yerba Buena on June 18 for free.
