Join us for the OFFICIAL Bay Area screening of
Taste The Nation Season 2 Episode 206 – Ube In The Bay!
Taste the Nation is a groundbreaking TV show that explores the diverse culinary landscape of America. Hosted by award-winning chef Padma Lakshmi, the show takes viewers on a journey across the country, showcasing the unique flavors, traditions, and stories behind the food we love.
In this upcoming season, we’re excited they dedicated an episode to the Bay Area’s Filipino food movement, bringing attention to the rich history, culture, activism, and creativity of our community. As one of the largest Asian communities in the Bay Area, the Filipino community has had a long and deep history in the region, dating back to the late 1800s. From the labor movement, to the farm-to-table movement, to the current movement of evolving the cuisine and food industry work culture, Filipinos have played a pivotal role in shaping the food ecosystem of the Bay Area and beyond.
We will be screening Episode 206 ‘Ube in the Bay’ which features local Filipino food entrepreneurs and community leaders in the Bay Area, with scenes filmed here at Kapwa Gardens! We are excited to invite them to join us in a panel discussion.
In this discussion, we’ll hear from panelists about their experience being a part of the Filipino food movement in the Bay Area, their experiences and reflections from filming the show, how they’re thinking about food entrepreneurship in today’s economy, and their hopes for the future.
