Described as a human comedy, the four-act opera The Marriage of Figaro was an instant hit despite the jealous attempts by Mozart’s rival to disrupt its premier.

The comic opera tells the story of the Count’s servant Figaro and his amour Susanna. The Count wants to seduce Susanna, but Figaro spoils his attempts.
