“The Obama Portraits Tour” Free de Young Opening Weekend Celebration (June 18-19)
Join us for the public opening day celebration of The Obama Portraits Tour exhibition with live musical performances by cellist and vocalist Mia Pixley and ensemble, dance performances by Kimberly Marie Olivier, and a portrait photography session with First Exposures alumni.
Free admission to The Obama Portraits Tour on June 18 and 19 is generously underwritten by Google. Free Tickets for the exhibition will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis and available onsite only, with a limit of four tickets per family. All activities on opening day are free.

The Obama Portraits Tour is on view at the de Young from June 18 to August 14, 2022. After June 19th, the portraits are free to view with paid admission (no additional fee required) but you’ll need to book timed tickets in advance. Other upcoming free days are the first Tuesday of each month. The de Young is also free for Bay Area residents (with ID) every Saturday.Tickets are released in two-week increments every other Wednesday

Opening Day (June 18th) Free activities
- Pop-up photography studio – 12–3 pm; de Young Café Terrace – Step inside our pop-up photo studio and receive a free portrait session by First Exposures alumni. Digital and print versions of the portraits will be available on a limited basis.
- Live music and dance performances – 12:30–1 pm + 1:30–2 pm; Wilsey Court – Listen to live music by cellist and vocalist Mia Pixley and her dynamic ensemble of diverse, local musicians. Freelance dancer Kimberly Marie Olivier will perform to a few pieces
