About Artists:

September 2 – Matt Bolton

Matt Bolton is a modern-day one-man-band show using live-on-the-spot created loops and technology with a contemporary pop, classic rock, roots-rock vibe and feel. Often with hints of retro electronic, rock, reggae, and funk, he combines guitar, drums, bass sounds, keyboards, synth, harmonica, mic, and live vocal sounds to create a full band sound and feel that gets crowds of all sizes up and dancing. Matt picks from a seemingly endless collection of covers and originals to create an unforgettable live performance in which his ingenuity in looping magically reproduces the feel and energy of a complete band with no pre-recorded tracks. Having played in touring bands with some legendary musicians including Todd Rundgren, Jesse Colin Young, Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead). Matt tours extensively (250 shows a year) all around the country with weekly residency gigs while at home in the SF Bay area.

 

September 9 – Tracy Cruz Trio

Born in Quezon City on the island of Luzon in the Philippines, lose yourself in Bay Area’s Tracy Cruz’s spirit filled, rich candied vocals; she is a full-time musical artist, songwriter and vocal coach, taking home 44 prestigious music awards such as the 2022 Intercontinental Music Awards for “Best of North America in the R&B genre”, 2022 Josie Music Award for “Vocalist of the Year” (R&B/Soul), 2022 One Earth Award GOLD for “Best Jazz Single”, 2021 InterContinental Music Awards “Best of North America” in the R&B category, 2020 Gold International Singer Songwriters Association Award for “Female Emerging Artist of the Year”, World Songwriter Award for “Best R&B Song”, 2020 National Black Music Award for “Best Recorded Song” and 2020 Bay Area Black Music Award for “Best Female Neo Soul Performer”. She has also received over 80 nominations including seven Hollywood Music in Media nominations and five Soultracks.com Readers Choice Awards.

 

September 23 – Swami 3

The Swami 3 are brothers originally from San Francisco, California, who started learning individual instruments according to their personalities at age 5. In 2020, COVID gave them an opportunity to spend more time practicing together, and they also started using music to connect and uplift friends online. Rohan (14) is fluid on the keys, Shaan (12) dazzles with drums & vocals, and Noah (12) jams on guitar.

October 7 – MT TAM Duo

MT TAM featuring DARBY GOULD on vocals (Jefferson Starship Big Brother and The Holding Co) and JEFF TAMELIER on guitar and vocals (Tower of Power, Starship). They have teamed up to make an exciting and entertaining duo playing music from the 1960’s to today and playing music from the iconic bands they both toured the world and recorded with.

 

October 21 – Eddie M Trio

Eddie Mininfield is a celebrated saxophonist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist renowned for his soulful sound, electrifying stage presence, and improvisational brilliance. His career spans decades, performing and recording with music’s greatest icons, including Prince, Stevie Nicks, Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and more. Eddie’s ability to move seamlessly across genres has made him a sought-after collaborator, contributing to the success of luminaries such as Wayman Tisdale, Acoustic Alchemy, and Eric Benét.

 

October 28 – Ray Obiedo Trio

Contemporary Jazz Ray Obiedo Trio Bio: For years, Ray Obiedo has been at the forefront of musicians and composers who have combined Jazz, Latin, Brazilian, and Caribbean styles into a fresh and dynamic new musical brew. Bringing together Contemporary Jazz and World Beat elements and fusing them with his infectious brand of West Coast Funk. Ray has released 10 solo projects, 5 of which have been released on his Oakland-based record label Rhythmus Records. Ray’s long-time association with Pete Escovedo’s Orchestra continues today. Tours with Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, and the JB Horns, as well as sax icon Maceo Parker, have all been highlights. A world tour in 1978-79 with jazz superstar Herbie Hancock is still one of Ray’s most treasured musical memories. Recording session with George Duke, Lou Rawls, Grover Washington Jr., Brenda Russell, The Whispers, and most recently The Bob Mintzer Big Band. 

 

November 4 – Akwasi Abrefah

Akwasi is a Bay Area-based steelpan player – educating, advising, and directing pan people and ensembles at Stanford University, the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts in Richmond, and the Bayview Senior Services Center. He’s been performing over the last couple of decades from the Bay to BK, WA to LA, and London to Trinidad and Tobago – the birthplace of steelpan. Why does he perform and educate? His purpose is always to promote the unique history and culture of steelpan in ways that emphasize the instrument’s ability to relate to stories of resilience, joy, competition, youth ingenuity, and national sovereignty – particularly in Afro-diasporic communities.
