See the captivating work of artist/muralist Tony Klaas. From his early murals in North Beach with artist Bill Weber to encounters with iconic figures in Barcelona’s Plaza Real Klaas’s colorful journey unfolded on canvas.
Klaas studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland before venturing to Barcelona in 1972 where he dove into surrealism. It was here that Klaas meet both Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso exploring this art form with the masters.
Psychedelics played a significant role in the creation of many of Klass’s work allowing him to zero in on color and shapes. He also identified with Van Gogh as both struggled with their ability to harness the realities of life. As a testament that art saves lives, Klaas explained that revisiting his issues through art helped him to find solutions.
Tony Klaas passed away in 2025.
