SF’s Yerba Buena Gardens Festival 2025
The 2025 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival hosts a full lineup of free outdoor music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, and children’s programs. The Festival opens on Saturday, May 10, 2025 with La Santa Cecilia to kick off its 25th Anniversary Season.
Gamelan Sekar Jaya, the most celebrated gamelan ensemble outside of Indonesia, returns to Yerba Buena Gardens Festival with a breathtaking mix of traditional and contemporary music and dance works.
Under the direction of internationally renowned gamelan composer and performer Ida Bagus Made Widnyana and legendary dance master I Made Keranca, the 40-member Bay Area company presents a program showcasing three different gamelan ensembles :
- The intricate and sinuous melodies of gender wayang, a quartet of bronze and bamboo metallophones
- The delicate and refined gamelan angklung, an ensemble of small bronze metallophones, drums and flutes
- The intoxicating gamelan jegog, Bali’s energetic bamboo ensemble with marimbas up to 10-feet long.
Settle in and catch this music the way it’s meant to be heard – outside on the green.
