SF’s Yerba Buena Gardens Festival 2025

The 2025 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival hosts a full lineup of free outdoor music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, and children’s programs. The Festival opens on Saturday, May 10, 2025 with La Santa Cecilia to kick off its 25th Anniversary Season.

Born and raised in Morocco, Yassir Chadly is a multi-instrumental master who moves easily between the oud, gimbri, karkabas, darbuka, and other traditional North African instruments.

He’s composed music for Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, while collaborating with a glittering array of innovators, from Pharoah Sanders and Dizzy Gillespie to Randy Weston and Philip Glass.

Long based in Berkeley, he unveils his latest ensemble featuring oud expert Bouchaib Abdelhadi, his longtime collaborator and fellow Casablancan, and a battery of young Moroccan percussionists who have studied under Chadly and Abdelhadi since immigrating to the US.
