Event Details

Join us at Manny’s in the Mission on Saturday, November 20, at 6:00pm, for Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR).
On TDoR, we honor the memory of our trans siblings whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. As transgender immigrants from the Global South, we exist at the nexis of transphobia, xenophobia, racism, and sexism. Many of us came here to escape violence from our countries of origin, only to continue to be marginalized and victimized here in the U.S.
Those who continue to exist in the Global South are living in fear and poverty, and are often erased with no proper records maintained of their identities, our cultural identities erased along with our gender identities. On TDoR, we come together to remember those who were taken from us because of this hate and violence. We demand justice for those who have passed, and equity for those of us who remain. We will not be erased.
Please join us in this important event, presented in partnership by Parivar Bay Area, Openhouse San Francisco, El/La Para TransLatinas, The LGBT Asylum Project, and Manny’s.
