Event Details

They’re slow and steady, but are turtles actually winning the race? Find out during a NightLife dedicated to these charismatic shelled creatures which have been around for more than 200 million years.

Hear from Assemblyman Paul Fong, sponsor of leatherback bill, and then see renowned dance troupe Capacitor perform an excerpt from Okeanos, a portrait of the ocean as body, environment, resource, metaphor, and force.

Play some classic Nintendo Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles provided by homefrys, then find out how you can exercise your “Turtle Power” to help conservation groups like the Center for Biological Diversity, Sea Turtle Restoration Project, Salmon Protection & Watershed Network, and Sea Stewards.

Plus, chat up sea turtle researcher J. Nichols and visit Ray “Bones” Bandar and his display of sea turtle skulls. Catch a special dive show in the Philippine Coral Reef, and Sea Turtle Spotlight in the planetarium at 6:30, followed by two showings of Earthquake. Music by DJ Jaysonik (Hottub/Le Heat).
