Free SF Sketchfest Events 2020

Every year there are a handfull of free SF Sketchfest comedy events. We’ll update our 2020 list soon.

Each week Ken Reid and his guest discuss the difficult viewing choices of our collective past using issues from Ken’s extensive TV Guide Magazine archives. Stories of growing up, nostalgic memories of television, and occasional forays into academic discussions on media are known to appear on the show. Since the show’s debut in February 2014, Ken has welcomed over 200 diverse guests including Ted Danson, Cassandra “Elvira Mistress of the Dark” Peterson, John Hodgman, Dana Gould, Kumail Nanjiani, Greg Proops, Ann Magnuson, Tick creator Ben Edlund, Lisa Loeb, Janeane Garofalo, Olivia d’Abo, Eugene Mirman and many more. The show has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, and the Boston Globe.

Performers:

Frank Portman
Frank Portman (also known as “Dr. Frank”) is an SF Bay Area musician and novelist. Dr. Frank, sometimes dubbed “the Cole Porter of Punk,” and his band the Mr. T Experience (MTX) are typically cited as among the founders of “East Bay Pop Punk” and released around a dozen albums and eps on Green Day launchpad Lookout Records throughout its heyday in the 90s. He has also published three novels, including the best selling cult classic King Dork.

Ken Reid
Ken Reid is a Boston based stand up comedian, podcaster, former punk rock teen (he was in the little loved 90’s Boston Punk band “30 Seconds Over Tokyo”) and adult survivor of a latchkey childhood. Reid was the long standing Friday night host at the legendary Comedy Studio in Cambridge, MA and produced his chaotic comedy variety show “The Secret Menu” there for two years. Reid was twice nominated as Best Comedian in Boston by the defunct Boston Phoenix and named one of Boston’s best comics by CBS Boston.
