Event Details

Please join us in celebrating the life of work of renowned Bay Area artist Tyler James Hoare, whose gallery became The Bay, and who became one of the first and the most enduring of the Mudflats Sculptors.  Hoare, who passed away in early 2023, created ephemeral driftwood and found object sculptures that endured in delighting Bay Area residents and visitors for decades — most famously, his Red Baron and Sopwith Camel series.

The Compound Gallery is honored to host this memorial for Tyler, which will include speakers and a pop-up show featuring some of Hoare’s works, including his incredible collage diaries.  We hope to see you August 20 as we remember the legacy left by this remarkable man.
