Underground Runway: “Blaq Beauty” The Pride in Colors | Oakland

As the platform for unsigned and unrecognized talent, UGRW runway shows are “different.” Affirming diversity is what Oakland does best, and UGRW only follows suit. Join them on November 6th 7-9pm for an evening of fashion focused not on featured designers per say, yet instead on the talent, the enchanted melanin to be held. All facets of the fashion industry are invited to participate, it’s your runway.

“How can you be an artist and not reflect the times?” Nina Simone questions and November 6th at Parliament Oakland UGRW works the runway for the answer. Individuals brave enough to put it all out there on the runway, despite the pitfalls, distractions, atrocities of the times, and who yet still aspire to their respective passions. Be reminded of Blaq beauty and grace as it struts down the runway… for a glimpse you will see pride & tradition aligned. The colors will set you free. Deep red, mirroring the red sea, countless shades of blue. Be witness to the runway–how it embraces color…holding on to the richest brown, Pairing Black & white with ease. Truth and lies hidden, but with your eyes you can see.

The Funds raised will be donated to the Mike Brown Foundation (Michael-Brown-Srs-Chosen-For-Change-Foundation) and Antonio Ramos fund.
