Event Details

Join the reception for a curated show in the Workspace Gallery with music and food on October 26, 2012.

Tea and juice provided by Juicey Lucy’s with tamales provided by Alicia’s Tamales Los Mayas. Wine tasting by Mark Bright from Saison.

Here is what will go down at Workspace:

First…citizen video and understanding the weather…how local engineers use you-tube video of flooding streets to help understand the storms we experience. We’ll see footage from Oct 20, 2009, when Folsom Street erupted. Presented by a local sewer historian Greg Braswell, assisted by John Seagrave and Nick Birth.

Next… San Francisco filmmakers Jeanne C. Finley & John Muse and their most recent work Manhole 452, “a darkly lyrical hybrid of rumination and documentation, so slightly tinted with humor as to leave the viewers wondering whether they perceive it or imagine it”, Kenneth Baker, San Francisco Chronicle.

Shot extremely locally, this fictionalized narrative follows the reflections of a man who was once almost killed by an exploding manhole cover: he now rides the Geary Limited bus to and from his job fitting prosthetic limbs, and is obsessed with the heavy steel plates which are everywhere. What are the odds? And how about the miracles?
