Event Details

Parklets—after popping up all over San Francicso, turning pavement into mini-parks with planters, tables and chairs—are coming to Oakland.

The Parklet Love-In at Actual Cafe: The first of these healthy spots of rest and greening is coming to Alcatraz Avenue where, taking the place of a defunct AC Transit bus stop in a small deck area, several planter boxes and benches. All materials used were reclaimed and the work was done by volunteers.

Come to the unveiling with partners Walk Oakland Bike Oakland (WOBO) and the East Bay Bicycle Coalition.

Come check out what, hopefully, will be there first of many of these pavement-to-parks projects in Oaktown, where politicians have yet to put their back behind such effort despite the community benefits and support from local businesses.
