Lower Polk / TL Art Walk | Trendyloin

The SF First Thursday Art Walk makes 27+ galleries available late night to the public for an art walk every first Thursday from 6-10 pm.

This is not a bar crawl. Each location is either a traditional gallery or a retail space with room dedicated to fine art. Occasionally there are special events to showcase local independent artists along with food trucks and more.

Here’s what’s happening on 8/7:

  • INFINITUM at ATAK Gallery SF – 1038 Larkin Street (at Sutter St.)
As a Painter, Illustrator, & Tattooist Thomas Hooper aims to mix orthodox / unorthodox drawing & painting techniques, organic textures, computer-enhanced patterns, accidental stains, & geometrical entities to further intertwine the path of his everyday practice on skin into the realm of fine art & beyond.
  • Contemporary Contemporary at Gauntlet Gallery – 1040 Larkin Street (at Sutter St.)
This group show featuring up and coming artists who have created new works referencing and paying homage to the most influential artists of the past 50 years. Featuring artists Adam Ziskie, Bethany Marchman, Brooke Grucella, Cam Floyd, Christopher Blackstock, Dan Christofferson, David Blake, David Natale, Emily Burns, Epyon5 and more!
  • Lore at Hashimoto Contemporary – 804 Sutter Street (at Jones St.)
Hashimoto Contemporary is proud to present “Lore”, a three person exhibition featuring the enigmatic work of Sam Wolfe Connelly, Nimit Malavia and Karla Ortiz. Sharing acclaimed backgrounds in illustration and a common love for graphite, the trio presents a ranging body of work for this month’s show that explore the allure of the fabled, haunted, and recounted.
  • MASTER IMPRESSIONS at Public Barber Salon – 571 Geary Street (At Jones St.)
In this iteration, New York-based fine artist Amar Stewart is transforming contemporary cultural royalty (read: modern day Hip-Hop artists) into their 17th century ‘blue-blooded’ equivalents.
  • NEW WORKS: WILL ARVIN at The Royale – 800 Post Street (at Leavenworth St.)
Press photos, advertisements and film stills are the common targets of appropriation, and have been for decades since the dramatic spike of their ever-growing presence in our daily lives. Will’s works follow this recent tradition.
