Filmmaker Hector Ortiz and the Richmond Arts and Culture Commission presents an evening of shorts in the theme of “The Upstanding Immigrant”. Mr. Ortiz won a RACC neighborhood mini-grant to complete his short film “Announcement”. Ortiz has curated this evening, which includes another short film also in the overall theme of “The Upstanding Immigrant”.
ANNOUNCEMENT (Filmmaker Hector Ortiz)
This short, funded by a neighborhood mini-grant from RACC, focuses on how the end of DACA impacts one Dreamer’s family. “Whether you support immigration rights or if you are against,” Ortiz says, “it’s definitely not going to be what you expect.” This is the first film in Hector Ortiz’s proposed series of films titled, “In The Shadows”, about the lives of undocumented immigrants in the United States. Hector Ortiz graduated from the Contra Costa Community College’s digital film program in 2014.
