250 couples will wed in a special Valentine’s Day marriage celebration at San Francisco’s historic City Hall on Friday, February 14, 2025.

City Administrator Carmen Chu and County Clerk Diane Rea invite you to participate in a Valentine’s Day marriage celebration at San Francisco City Hall.
On Friday, February 14, Mayor Daniel Lurie and other special guests will perform over 200 marriage ceremonies with the Office of the County Clerk in San Francisco’s historic City Hall. Couples will wed in multiple locations throughout the building in the presence of their closest friends and loved ones.
This annual event celebrates the tradition of couples coming from all over San Francisco and the world to get married in City Hall, as well as the staff and volunteers who make over 4,500 City Hall weddings happen each year.
On a typical day, the Office of the County Clerk officiates 28 City Hall weddings, in addition to issuing marriage, birth, and death certificates, fictitious business names, City IDs, and other services that support San Francisco residents and businesses. This wildly popular marriage service is made possible by Deputy Marriage Commissioners who volunteer their time to officiate City Hall weddings. On Valentine’s Day, 25 Deputy Marriage Commissioners, including special guests, will pitch in to accommodate the 253 couples set to be married.
The event tomorrow comes at the start of an action-filled weekend in San Francisco, when the City will host both the NBA All Stars Weekend and the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade and Festival. Join us to celebrate!

In 2023, each couple received a long-stem rose, candy, and a special Valentine’s Day Souvenir Marriage Certificate. Couples and their wedding parties enjoyed festive decorations and a free Valentine’s-themed photobooth in the North Light Court. (We’re not sure if it could be the same for this year – 2025)
