Event Details

The San Mateo County Historical Association and the South San Francisco Library are honored to be part of the Victorian Days Walking Tour of historic sites along Grand Avenue.

History lover and former state assemblyman and ex-city councilman Gene Mullin, will help guide the tour of the historic sites. Mullin’s insight and charming stories about the city’s treasured homes and buildings will add to the enjoyment of the tour.

They will begin with a presentation and light refreshments at the Grand Avenue Library, a Carnegie building opened in 1916. They’ll move on to the hotel that housed the earliest workers and the families who settled in the booming industrial town, visit the historic Plymire-Schwarz House that served as the first hospital, and some of the other buildings that hold historical memories of early South City.

Come hear about these sites seeped in history and the role they played in the early creation of our budding industrial city. Grand Avenue is on a slight incline, so wear sturdy walking shoes. You’ll find free parking behind library using the Miller Street entrance. Free but an RSVP is encouraged. To RSVP or for more information email martinezev@plsinfo.org
