Join City Librarian Luis Herrera, Supervisor Malia Cohen and other city and state officials for the grand opening celebration of the new Visitacion Valley Branch Library in San Francisco.

The 1 pm event will begin with remarks from Herrera, Cohen, State Senator Mark Leno, the Department of Public Works Director Edward D. Reiskin and Donna Bero, the Executive Director of Friends of the San Francisco Public Library, all followed by an official ribbon cutting at new library.

Other celebratory entertainment includes lion dancers from the Jing Mo Athletic Association, dancers from the Asian Pacific American Community Center and the Samoan Community Development Center, a Chinese orchestra, martial arts demonstrations from Kuk Sool Won, a children’s performance with Magic Dan and music by Curt Yagi.

So spend your afternoon checking out the children’s activities, city officials and Chinese dancers at the opening of this brand new, 9000 sq. ft. building, all while celebrating the Visitacion Valley community.
